Audeze LCD-2 Classic Open System

Acquistate per ascolto audiofilo, non vanno bene per mixare, sono colorate. Hanno un buco nella risposta in frequenza attorno ai 4000 Hz se non ricordo male che le rende un po’ scurette. Sopra tornano a rispondere bene, perciò gli alti ci sono e sono squillanti, i piatti liquidi, le trombe croccanti. Per il resto non ha difetti, i bassi sono velocissimi ed equilibrati, con una bella texture, le medie presenti e ben separate, naturali, anche le voci. È una cuffia goduriosa e non la cambierei per nulla al mondo, sono felicissimo. Ho messo 4 stelle sul suono solo perché manca la rappresentazione delle frequenze attorno ai 4000 Hz, il che restituisce una scena non completa al 100%, ma è una piccolezza e per il resto è tutto godimento. Se uno non conoscesse la neutralità come riferimento probabilmente non se ne accorgerebbe neanche! Consigliatissime.

Le LCD 2 Classic sembrano quasi chiuse grazie al design che chiude il contorno orecchie e alla membrana del driver stesso.
L'isolamento è quasi nullo per il concetto di cuffia aperta. Sebbene tengano caldo alla lunga, la sensazione è di un abbraccio. Lo stesso si può dire della qualità sonora in quanto presenta un certo effetto di palcoscenico soprattutto su registrazioni dal vivo. La risoluzione è buona ma trattenuta leggermente dalla recessione nelle frequenze medio-alte che "allontana" le voci soprattutto femminili. Le basse sono neutre fino a 20-30Hz e le alte non sono troppo pronunciate. Nell'insieme hanno una sonorità scura ma beneficiano parecchio dall'equalizzazione visto che il livello di distorsione è ben più basso delle normali cuffie dinamiche. Il punto dolente è letteralmente un punto, cioè l'archetto metallico che preme sul mio capoccione per via del cuoio della sospensione che si tira troppo. Non ho trovato il peso un punto a sfavore. Nel complesso un'ottima cuffia per l'ascolto di piacere.

Whenever I put these on, I get mixed feelings. The sound, although recessed in the high frequencies, is extremely detailed and pleasant. It brings out the best in good recordings while still being forgiving to worse ones. The bass might not be as thunderous as some reviews claim, but it still is what you would expect from a neutral planar headphone, that is, very good! Instrument separation is fantastic. Soundstage is a bit on the narrower side, but definitely still there.

Build quality is also top notch. There is no unnecessary flex and, despite handling such a product with care, I wouldn't feel too worried about dropping it time and again. My all-plastic AKG K712 Pros feel like toys in comparison in this regard.

The headphones are also comfortable, with the SOFT memory foam pads and even weight distribution on the headband. However, despite being the lightest of the LCD series, the weight is still there. Being nearly 300g heavier than the AKGs that I own, I do notice these after a while. I ended up returning them for this reason - not because they weren't what I was expecting in terms of sound quality. They were, and they are (in my opinion) well worth their price, but only if you don't mind the extra weight.

Unfortunately for me, I do.

P.S.
At this price point, it is good to note that you are hitting massive diminishing returns in headphone performance. While being substantially better than my 712s, the biggest improvement that this LCD has on them is the build quality. The sound quality is better in all but vocals, but even then, not by a whole lot.
