A 'chambered body', would probably be a better description than 'semi-acoustic'. Design based on a Godin A4, with a piezo saddle pick up, Sire's own Vividx pre-amp and 3 band EQ. Beautiful spruce, mahogany, rosewood build quality, very solid.
A standard 5 string with low B was supplied, but I asked Thomann to set it up with a high C, as I play mainly Folk. Thomann replaced the nut to accommodate the new stringing and restrung with Warwick Red Bronze. Set up very well, good string action, with no intonation issues. Sire's 'edgeless' fretboard is a delight.
Plays really nicely, particularly with the higher strings (which is what I wanted). Clear tone, with a lot of adjustment via the EQ. I was looking for the (advertised) 'upright acoustic Bass' resonance, which is what it delivers.
In summary, you get (very) near Godin features and quality, for a third/quarter of the price. Sire deliver what they promise!
