I use both these and the long versions in multiple places around my kit. They are incredibly solid and will easily handle gigging and constant set up and tear down.
Having memory locks is a must for consistent set up, especially if you use quite a lot of (too many) cymbals. Another added feature, which is why I decided to go with these. The break tilter (the little screw you lock with your tuning key) it prevents the tilter from collapsing, even if the wingnut comes undone. After using these for quite a while now, I can genuinely say that they work exactly as intended and I 100% trust them.
I use this as for a splash and bell on my tom mount and a second on a tri-mount for an 16/18 stack, and it can easily take the weight of both the bigger cymbals and the constant abuse of a hard hitter.
Overall I would absolutely recommend you go with these if you need a smaller boom for splash and other effect cymbals, as well as bigger cymbals that you might need tucked away or don't need the excess length for any reason.
I see no downsides to these or most Gibraltar products and will continue to use their products forever.
