BD5 is for students. BD4 is for professionals.
Me coming from BD5.... Why Vandoren didn't release this before BD5????????? Everyone who plays BD5 should switch to BD4!! Same comfort, much better articulation, fits V12 3.5 reeds(like BD5), double sound projection, highly recommended!!!!!!!!

A worthwhile investment for a beginner clarinettist
I bought this mouthpiece for my son, who had just taken up clarinet. The mouthpiece that came with his Buffet Prodige produced a poor tone; the Vandoren BD4 transformed the sound, giving it more of a true clarinet quality. The Prodige is not an expensive instrument; it was definitely worth investing in a good quality mouthpiece. The only problem is that leaving it in the case with the clarinet, the clarinet keys started to tarnish. The shop I bought the clarinet from had experienced this before, and advised me to keep the mouthpiece in a pouch, which resolved the issue.

Amazing mouthpiece
I was pleasantly surprised with the flexibility of this mouthpiece. It can play soft, loud, round or scream if you want. Just give yourself some time to get used to it. Played with V12/2.5
