Schilke 16
The Schilke 16 works surprisingly well from below the staff (down to the double pedal register) through the 'cash register' and into the upper register. It's an excellent all round mouthpiece that can be used for 'legit' playing, but will brighten up nicely for commercial use. The rim is comfortable, and allows for good flexibility. The shank of Schilke mouthpieces is slightly longer than other brands, as Ren Schilke believed that there should be zero/minimal gap upon insertion. This may mean that the mouthpiece is slightly loose in non-Schilke instruments. The quality of the silver plating is excellent.

Schilke 16.
The Schilke 16 is a very free blowing mouthpiece. It is very different to the Schilke 17, that is to say it is not a scaled down version of the 17 - it is a very different mouthpiece in design and blow/sound.
It plays very open and free with a fairly dark sound but the open feel may not be to every players liking. Quality as you would expect from Schilke is first class.
