A very clever tool for copying neck profiles

When reading the other reviews for this product I get the impression that some people don't really understand what this tool is actually meant for.

This tool is perfect for copying neck profiles from existing necks. You can take measurements at any point of the neck to make templates. If you craft guitar necks and want to copy a specific neck for a customer (or for yourself) this is a very clever little tool.

I'm sure it can have other uses too but I certainly wouldn't use it to check the curvature of the neck when doing a setup like another review mentioned. It's 100% not suitable for this job! You would need a straight edge (or a notched straight edge specifically made for guitars) for this. Or better still, adjust the guitar until it feels great with no buzzing!

Extremely useful if you want to modify the profile of a neck.

This is clearly a niche tool. If you want to efficiently modify the profile of a neck, you will need this. It will allow you to make templates from a model neck, remove the guesswork, and enable a proper comparison between 2 neck profiles. Also, it is extremely useful during the reshaping job as you can monitor your progress using the templates you made before starting to remove wood.
Quick tip, use masking tape on the neck, the needles of the tool are metal and could easily scratch the finish.
