great idea
This is a drum rack that curves around the bass drum and therefore takes up minimal space and reduces the need for as many cymbal stands.
I have had a few drum racks in my time and so am aware of their advantages and issues. In principle, the stealth idea behind this gibraltar rack is great but in practice it has a few drawbacks.
Pros - this is a solid, stable, strong and very good quality drum rack. The side clamp brackets are very useful for mounting cymbal holders - as long as the cymbal holder has a long tube.
Cons - the main problem is that it is a curved round tube! tightening clamps on a round tube is a waste of time - as soon as any weight like a rack tom goes on the clamp bracket; the clamp spins. i actually removed 2 of the memory clamps from the feet to try to stop this. Grub screws on the clamps that dig into the tube and more memory clamps would help prevent this. The second issue is that because of the racks curve, you are very limited to where you can mount a tom. It needs to be quite central or it will slide down. Thirdly, it would be good if the bottom of the rack flaired out slightly to the feet to avoid the spurs on a 22inch bass drum as it can be difficult to position around them.
Unfortunately, no rack is perfect.

A Game Changer
Bought this rack to reduce the amount of kit I carry around as I get older. It is brilliant!! Quick & easy to set up, very stable and...takes up much less room on stage. Great for some of the pubs we play where space is at a premium
