I got the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd generation after extensive research on what microphone I should buy. I initially got a USB microphone that was connected to my computer directly. Soon I realized that I needed more control and flexibility. The recordings were fine but there was always something missing from the sound. It was never as in reality. So, I decided to get a separate audio interface and a microphone that is connected with the XLR cable.
I never regretted that I got Scarlett. It was so easy to set it up and there were plenty of tutorials on how to do this correctly depending on the different computer settings. My first recording was perhaps the most wonderful experience as I realized that indeed I made the best choice. I'm playing the cello and it is not easy to achieve a digital result close to the actual sound of the instrument in all its registers. With this audio interface, it was possible!
The service from Thomann was incredible - thank you so much! I bought initially a USB mic and then changed my mind. They immediately suggested taking it back so I could get the audio interface with an XLR microphone instead.
