Roland DJ-505

This is a very nice DJ controller for the price! Firstly, I was afraid of shorter pitch faders when comparing them against turntables, but it's totally ok and I am able to match speeds without any issues. Jog wheels are top - very responsive and large. The crossfader is configurable and all the faders and pads are just ok! All the knobs are very nice quality and have no issue killing bass/mid/treble. It is possible to connect two turntables as well as a MIDI device and use the controller as a standalone mixer. Besides connecting booth outputs, there are also balanced XLR outputs. In-built TR-S sequencer contains the drum family machines Roland TR-909, TR-808, TR-707, TR-626 and TR-606 as well as there are 8 additional configurable samples that can be used and controlled by the TR-S. What I do not like much is the chassis quality, which is made of plastic. On the other hand, it makes the device very lightweight and portable. The controller, when plugged in, unlocks Serato DJ Pro + it comes with a voucher for 3 additional Serato licenses. On top of that it is also out of the box compatible with Mixxx.

Ich habe das Gute Stück jetzt seit ein paar Monaten im Einsatz. Die Einsatzgebiete sind:
- Club/Party
- Hochzeiten/Privatfeiern

Generell bin ich sehr zufrieden mit dem Gerät. Gerade der eingebaute Drum-Sequenzer mit der Möglichkeit für Fingerdrumming ohne viel Vorbereitung macht das Gerät sehr reizvoll.
Das Gehäuse ist aus Kunststoff und beeindruckt dadurch eher weniger. Nach längerem Einsatz kann ich aber sagen, dass das Gehäuse schon ein bisschen Transportkummer vertragen kann. Das geringere Gewicht des Mischpults/Controllers hängt sicher mit der Wahl des Kunststoffgehäuses zusammen. Wirklich meckern kann ich nur über das Netzteil - mal ehrlich Roland, bei dem Preis hätte ich gerne 10 ¤ mehr bezahlt für ein Netzteil mit stabilen Kabeln statt diesem billigen Zweiadrigen, einfach isolierten Strippen.
Sehr schön finde ich auch die Möglichkeit zwei Plattenspieler anzuschließen für die Situationen wo ich Platten und Rechner paralell nutze.

Wie immer die
Vorteile:
- Ganz klar: der Drumcomputer onbard
- funktional sehr umfangreich
- ich mag die Jog Wheels, Scratcher werden das aber sicher anders sehen
- Die Pads sind ganz OK, klar keine Akai MPD/MPC Pads, aber OK für die Preisklasse.
- Robust
- Leicht
- separater Kanal für Sampler/Drumcomputer inkl eigenem FX-Kanal

und die Nachteile:
- Das Netzteil schreit förmlich danach kaputt zu gehen.
- Durch die tiefe des Gerätes finden sich nur schwer passende Taschen für das Gerät
