It's a Tama. The brand I'll never leave.
Needed a compact drum. This was it.You need to stuff the kick a little, use some tape here and there and it will sound decent.
The snare is decent, very average, but it came along so I'll use it as a compact back-up.
Always include the cymbal holder.
The only thing that bothers me is that it doesn't come with a bass drum lifer, and you'll really need it..
EDIT: the screws of the snare mechanisme shook loose.
That means you got to open it up, and add some decent rings to prevent it from happening again.
The snare mechanism ialso got a little tolerance by itself: it isn't exactly a tight design.
Now I know it's a budget snare but I expect more from Tama.
The snare (and also the 10" tom) lends itself for all kinds of tuning experiments.
Which it steers you towards anyway, because especially the snare needs a very regular additional tuning, and that's mainly because of the flimsy snare mechanism.
I've got 2 other good 14" snares, but I'm still going to look for a snare mechanism upgrade on this one.
Everything must be in top shape.
