I bought Melodyne 5 essential because flex pitch in Logic Pro leave artifacts and also dulls the sound. Melodyne works great with instruments and vocals, but I use it regularly for sound design too. It does a great job with general pitch manipulation on everything except very low/sub sounds.
If you use Logic, I've found that Melodyne Essential really is an essential addition.

Melodyne 5 Essential is an essential tool for any musician or producer looking to refine their vocal or instrumental tracks. While it doesn't have all the advanced features of the more expensive editions, it offers high-quality pitch correction and time manipulation, which are more than enough for most users. The interface is user-friendly, and it integrates seamlessly with most DAWs. It’s great for beginners and intermediates who want to get into vocal editing without breaking the bank.
