Overall, it's a nice gong! I like its sound and it's not as heavy as one might think, but if you want to make crescendos with two mallets or make rubbing/scratching sounds, it's best if properly held in an adequate support.
The richness of harmonics are OK for it's size and price range, and the sound projects well; but it decays a little fast for my taste. However, on a budget, it feels very nice to play.
In terms of finishing, mine came with a few dings and scratches, but nothing that seems to compromise its overal performance. It's a good buy for sound therapy. If you actually need the gong sound to mix in a song, I strongly suggest you use a VSTi; but I think that, properly mic'ed, it should do OK.
