This brass slide produces quite a darker and deeper tone compared to the regular ones -- a perfect accompaniment for anyone willing to play a lot of delta blues. In terms of weight, this is definitely a heavier one when compared to steel slides. I very much prefer the tone produced by this brass slide to the steel ones.
There is a warning on the package which reads: "WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm." I was at first really worried when I saw that warning but after a lot of online research, I found out that this is not something to really freak out about. The state of California seems to have really strict laws when it comes to such stuff and it seems that even very small and safe amounts of certain elements in some products qualify to get such a warning.
If you are really worried about the warning, then consider reading the following response directly from DUNLOP customer service (this reply was posted originally on Harmony Central forum)
"The warning label was put on the package in to comply with California Proposition 65, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. The Proposition was intended by its authors to protect California citizens and the State's drinking water sources from chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, and to inform citizens about exposures to such chemicals. The current list of chemicals is 21 pages long, so don't be surprised if you see these warnings on more products and work places.
The 222 slide has the warning because there are small amounts of lead in the metal.
According to Prop 65, the daily legal limit of lead content taken orally is .50 micrograms.
The 222 slide has tested at .99 micrograms of lead.
Because the test came in higher than the limit, even though we don't believe that people are licking our slides, we felt it best to put the warning on the product.
If you need more information on Proposition 65 () or cancer and lead ( feel free to check out these sites for more information.
We are always here if you have questions or concerns.
Thanks so much for contacting us and letting us explain further."
