Solid and quiet HH pedal
cperrone 02.01.2018
I bought it to replace the basic HH pedal that came with my son's entry-level TD-1KV kit (in addition to a KT-9 to replace the kick pedal). I originally considered an upgrade with the cheaper FD-8, but once I realized that it uses the same rubber mechanism than the one I had already, I felt there was no point. I'm not quite sure what mechanism the FD-9 uses, but the difference in playability is massive. It is super quiet, and with great responsiveness. I can play heel up or down without problems. It's extremely robust as well (metal, with solid plastic on top), so I'm sure it will last long.
I removed one of the two lateral springs to make the action slightly softer. Great product!

Improvement over the FD-8
Terrains 05.01.2021
My TD-9 kit came with the FD-8 pedal, which eventually became less and less responsive to open/close - a common problem caused by the rubber actuator becoming stiffer over time.
Anyway, I upgraded to the FD-9 and it's a definite improvement. It's quieter than the old pedal, but the hat pedal was never one of the noisiest pieces in the kit anyway so overall noise isn't really affected. It's solid and smooth, and the hi-hat action is nice and responsive.
I've had it about 3 years now with no sign of any degradation and without ever having to change a thing in its operation. It stays where you want it and works flawlessly, which is all you want from it.
It's maybe a bit expensive but if stays this reliable over time then it's worth the investment.
