Harley Benton has long enjoyed a reputation for offering instruments that combine excellent quality with affordable prices, and the TE-90QM Trans Red is no exception. This guitar combines classic "TE" styling with a chambered body and a pair of Roswell P90 pickups, creating an interesting and unusual configuration. Its slim-taper neck also provides a comfortable playing feel, while a solid set of diecast machine heads and a bonoid nut ensure optimum tuning stability. At the opposite end, the six-way DLX bridge allows accurate intonation to be achieved in all registers.
Chambered body for enhanced resonance
The Harley Benton TE-90QM Trans Red features a semi-acoustic body made from nyatoh, which is similar to mahogany - an unusual choice of wood for a TE-style guitar, but an interesting one nonetheless - and an attractive figured maple top, and this combination gives the guitar a full-sounding resonance while also significantly reducing its weight. The one-piece maple neck in turn features a 22-fret amaranth fingerboard with abalone-look dot inlays, and the two Roswell P90 Vintage Style pickups with which the guitar is loaded make it ideal for Blues and Rock music. These are governed by a simple but effective control layout comprising a three-way toggle switch and a single control each for volume and tone.

The fretwork in general is done very nice (although I have returned one of these guitars because of improper fretlevelling) and the guitar is very well built. Moreso, as stated, you can't find any other telecaster type guitar along with this kind of hollow body construction. The finish is excellent and the quilted maple top really stands out. The wilkinson pickups are fine in terms of tone and since there's one of them reversed wound/reversed polarity, the guitar is free of hum once both pickups are selected. The other two positions of the three way switch are more prone to noise and hum but being a single coil, this is always the case. Tuners are solid to and the nut is also excellent. You could easily upgrade this guitar with other pickups if you'd like to but that's certainly not required right away. You get very much guitar for your money with this product.

- Schitterende afwerking
- Goed afgesteld. (actie, relief, intonatie)
- Roswell P90 pickups klinken verassend goed.
Ik ging er van uit dat ik deze wel zou moeten veranderen. maar niets is minder waar.
- heel aangenaam neck profiel (modern C) met satijn finish
- stemsleutels zijn basic maar doen wel hun werk.
- frets zijn degelijk gevlakt, crowned) enkel eens polijsten.
Iets mindere puntjes:
Niet echt veel negatief aan te merken. Zeker niet als je de prijs in het achterhoofd houdt.
- Fretjes moeten gepolijst worden. (Geen groot probleem, 0000 staalwol doet wonderen. Zeker niet vergeten de pickups dan af te schermen tegen de staalwol!)
- De gebruikte potmeters werken. Maar daarmee is alles ook gezegd.
Ze zijn niet echt "smooth". Eerder aan / uit.
Op termijn dus nieuwe potmeters.
Tot conclusie kan ik zeggen: Een zeer fijne en goed klinkende gitaar. Z'n geld zeker waard.

Na het lezen van eerdere beoordelingen had ik wel een paar min puntjes verwacht, zoals een uitgedroogde toets, ruwe fretten en slecht werkende potmeters. Bij het gitaar wat ze mij toegestuurd hebben was dit niet het geval, Het lijkt erop dat Thomann zelfs de goedkopere gitaren verbeterd na kritische beoordelingen.
Het geluid is redelijk goed, Clean geeft hij een vol geluid en met overdrive een aangename ronde doordrukkende toon.
De elementen klinken tussen single coil en humbuckers.
Ook de afstelling was goed, zo uit de doos is dit gitaar ready to rock. Vielen Dank Thomann.🎸👍

Bij het schuiven over de hals voelde ik de fretten als pijnlijk. Verder een mooi instrument.
