Phaser

The MXR Vintage Phase 90 comes in the classic script logo design. The younger Eddie Van Halen used it to "spice up" his legendary lead sound, which can be heard particularly well on his parade solo "Eruption". In contrast to the popular block logo phaser, the original circuit was used here, and so the phaser sounds just like Eddie, Jimmy Page, and David Gilmour (All I can say is: "Shine On ...").

Of course, there is still only one control with which the speed of the phasing can be adjusted, everything else is preset in such a way that a really pleasant, never too obtrusive sounding effect can be achieved.

For people who need this control, it is also available with LED.

Der ultimative Phaser

Auf der Suche nach dem ultimativen Phaser bin ich nun erst einmal am Ziel. Es ist der MXR Phase 90 in der Script Version. Dieser hat genau die Wärme, die man sich wünscht und zerrt nur ganz leicht an. Der Sound ist unglaublich voll und rund aber bei aller Wärme erhält er im Gegensatz zum Maxon die Höhen. Der eine Regler reicht vollkommen aus. Das Pedal eignet sich für cleane Klänge genauso, wie für angezerrtes und Lead Sachen. Es lohnt sich aber in die Script Version zu investieren, da die neuen Geräte mit Blocklogo deutlich extremer schwingen und aus meiner Sicht die Wärme vermissen lassen.

Diese Version hat auch eine LED daher ist sie für mich die die beste Alternative aus dem Hause MXR.

Johnny Winter und Eddie Van Halen haben mit diesem Gerät ihre verzerrten Gitarren gewürzt. Es passt tatsächlich sehr gut vor einen verzerrten Amp, aber auch vor ein Overdrive-Pedal. Dabei wird dann ein Teil des Phasings sozusagen in der Verzerrung mit "verbrannt" und ist nicht mehr so deutlich hörbar - mehr als Andickung des Sounds.

Aber auch für ein Phasing von Clean-Sounds á la Leslie ist das MXR einsetzbar, und klingt sogar in verschiedenen Tempo-Settings unterschiedlich. Dabei finde ich es aber manchmal etwas enttäuschend, dass es hier nur diesen einzigen Regler gibt. Der Grundsound ist dafür einfach gut, und mit Wiedererkennungseffekt!

Von Blues bis Hard Rock empfehlenswert.
