Can't stand the Jaco effect playing metal double bass string and Fat Black are just "Gut-A-Like" enough to let your double bass with a nice "Charlie Haden" character. Unfortunately my double bass has a very short scale (103 cm) and tension on third and (most of all) fourth strings is way too low to let them sound and react properly. If you play jazz and you like that kind of fat thump sound Fat Black are a good deal but only your instrument is a 4/4. It take a very long time to keep a decent stable tuning.

I've had these a couple of weeks now. I have a light carved bass with a low action. These strings give a nice woody sound without buzzing. They still have quite a low tension, giving little sustain or attack but are good for duo/trio acoustic jazz/bossas without drums. They need plenty of EQ manipulation if amplified.
The big negative is the performance of the E string, which appears to be the same diameter as the A string and is poor. I see that the makers now recommend buying an additional 'Twister' E string, but if it is any better, it should be included in the set.

Hallo erstmal!!!
Also kaufte mir vor ca einen halben jahr die Gut a like Saiten ,War mit der Verarbeitung sehr zu Frieden echt top.
Die d und g und a Saiten klingen echt gut aber leider ist die E Saite etwas zu schwach auf der Brust.
Und ich War mit ihr nicht so zu Frieden ,man kann sich bei gut a like direkt aber die Gut a like Twitter Saite bestellen statt der üblichen E Saite für ca 70 ? das Stück .
Leider gibt es die nicht bei thomann zu erwerben aber vieleicht holt das thomann ja noch nach .
Übrigens gibt es auch gleich Twiester Sets bei gut a like zu erwerben mit fast allen gut a like Saiten im Angebot und zu einen günstigen Preis natürlich .
Von mir gibt es deshalb nur vier Sterne für den Sound und fünf für die Verarbeitung.
