A versatile EQ that also works as a filter

I had 10 band EQ but I realised that I was looking for something different to sculpt my sound, so I sold it and bought the Long Life EQ instead. I'm very pleased with it.

Because it's not a traditional EQ, it's not immediately clear how it works - you will need to spend some time experimenting with it. Once you understand it, you can get results very quickly in order to sculpt your sound. That speed of use was an important factor for me as i want to stay in the creative flow when I'm writing new music.

The pedal ingeniously has two filters built into it; on the bass end you have a classic low-pass filter which sounds fantastic on everything including synths, and can be controlled by an expression pedal. It cuts off the higher frequencies and you can control by how much. In the mid range the pedal functions as a band pass filter, and then on the high end it's a high-pass filter, letting through only treble frequencies. I find this very useful when working on different parts in my productions as I can quickly get a ballpark EQ range for my sound and keep the sound limited to a specific frequency range so that it sits better in the mix.

For the more adventurous, you can control frequency and resonance using CV from your modular gear and it can even self-oscillate at high resonance settings. Using a separate expression pedal you can also use the EQ like a wah.

Quality-wise it's like the other Fairfield Circuitry products; premium quality and built to last. Worth the price. This pedal is a keeper for me.

Fabrication impeccable. Caractéristique "couteau suisse du filtre".
Je m'explique : Ce n'est qu'un seul et unique filtre, mais complètement paramétrable.
C'est un filtre analogique paramétrique, avec Q frq et gain variable : De quoi tuer un petit défaut ou ajuster la couleur de façon plus globalement. On peut aussi le faire "basculer" d'un côté ou de l'autre et en faire un coupe bas ou coupe haut.
C'est fait pour un signal mono instrument, mais c'est redoutable!!

Etwas Charakter gefaelligst?

Gekauft, um eigentlich Geraete durchzuschieben, die hier und da etwas Low-Pass-Filter brauchen. Nach einiger Probierzeit gefunden, um so ziemlich alles durchzuschieben was irgendwie etwas Grid braucht. Kicks!!! Drums, Synths, Gitarren, DAW Spuren ... die Moeglichkeiten enden wo du damit aufhoerst.

Geile Nummer ist einfach, dass das Teil sehr nette Verzerrungen neben des gut klingenden Filters on Top gibt. Ein Geheimtipp fast schon fuer 808s oder allerlei Drumsounds, Spuren, Summen etc. Kompressor dahinter und Boom. Einfach geil. Aber vorsicht, das Teil kann auch oszilieren, wenn der Q zu hoch eingestellt wird. Hast du jetzt noch ein CV Out faehiges Geraet, kannst du das Filter wie einen Oszilator spielen. Auch geil!

Verarbeitung absolut gut. Buehnentauglich alle Male.

Nettes Feature zwischen Low-Pass, Notch und High-Pass regeln zu koennen. Sehr vielseitig einsetzbar und absolut zu empfehlen.

Fairfield entpuppt sich derzeit zu meinem lieblings Hersteller von Pedals.

Longue vie !!!

Effet polyvalent devenu indissociable de ma guitare. La long life permet de faire beaucoup de choses :

- Clean boost
- Mettre en valeur une fréquence en particulier
- Gommer une fréquence en particulier
- Créer de la résonance
- Créer un effet wah statique

Elle peut être placée n'importe où pour faire ressortir ou amoindrir différentes fréquences.
Elle change le caractère des instruments et leur donne vie...
