Digital audio meter

The TC Electronic Clarity M Stereo is an audio meter that allows the level and frequency of digital stereo signals to be precisely analysed. Its 7", 800 x 480 pixel high-resolution LCD screen provides a clear visualisation of a range of different analytical tools and essential parameters in the production of audio material. These include the M6 Loudness Radar, which gives the user an overview of the loudness history for an adjustable period of time, and a state-of-the-art true peak meter that identifies inter-sample peaks. An RTA (real time analyser) for frequency analysis, a vector scope, a balance-o-meter, and a range of further metering options for loudness, correlation, and potential deviations during mono downmixing are also on board. Incidentally, the TC Electronic Clarity M Stereo shown here is the smaller sibling of the company's larger Clarity M model, which also provides surround sound capabilities.

Convenient metering in plug-in mode

The TC Electronic Clarity M Stereo can be connected directly to a computer via USB, which allows the user to conveniently meter on any track in their DAW using a range of different VST, AU, and AAX-format plug-ins. As an alternative to using a USB connection, the TC Electronic Clarity M Stereo can also be operated via a conventional AES3 (an RCA adapter for broadcast-grade metering is included in the scope of delivery) or via an optical Toslink interface. The Clarity M Stereo is also compliant with all commonly used broadcast standards, including ITU BS.1770-4, ATSC A/85, EBU R128, TR-B32, and OP-59.

For recording, mixing, mastering, and post-production

High-precision metering using a dedicated display makes sense in every stage of the audio production process, and that is what users get with the TC Electronic Clarity M Stereo. Coherent gain staging during the initial recording process, for example, is much easier to achieve if the user can regularly check the gain and loudness levels. And during the mixing, mastering, and especially post-production stages, the meter's visual feedback is extremely helpful in analysing the loudness, frequency spectrum, and stereo field width of the mix. What is more, the Clarity M Stereo's relatively affordable purchase price means that professional users are not the only ones who may find this an interesting solution.

About TC Electronic

The Danish company TC Electronic has been known for its innovative products for many years. It was founded in 1976 by brothers Kim and John Rishøj in Aarhus. The company first made a name for itself with the SCF, a stereo chorus/flanger pedal for guitar. Studio equipment followed during the 80s and 90s, notably the legendary TC2290 digital delay in 19-inch rack format. Since the 2000s, TC Electronic has greatly enriched the guitar and bass scene with amplifiers, cabinets, combos, and effects pedals. Here too, TC's innovative spirit is in evidence, for example with its TonePrint technology and the first polyphonic guitar tuner. TC Electronic has been part of Music Tribe since 2015.

An everyday helper in the studio

As a digital audio meter that can be easily connected via USB and monitor every track in the user's DAW, the TC Electronic Clarity M Stereo is sure to become an integral part of their music or multimedia production workflow and a useful tool in their day-to-day processes: For example, working with reference mixes and matching loudness levels is made significantly easier. The RTA's frequency diagramme additionally simplifies the process of clearing up the frequency spectrum, e.g. the low end, when monitoring conditions are not as good as they could be, and even when the producer wants to let their own ears make the final decision, the visualisations provided by the Clarity M Stereo of its various analytical tools will still provide a helpful point of reference.
