Bass Pick up Split P

DiMarzio was the first company that manufactured replacement pickups for electric guitars and basses and can claim a successful blend of tradition and innovation since the early 70s. For all bass players who want to expand their sound spectrum and draw from more modern fields , the Split P is a very interesting pickup. The two halves are each real humbuckers and deliver a sound with much more treble and bass; compared to the conventional P-models almost a "hi-fi sound"!

Put this pickup in a Precision Bass, plug it in and you will be blowned away by its terrific sound! It has a very high output, higher than some active pickups out there! These pickups sound really deep and articulated, while maintaining the pbass character. A must try for all p-bass lovers!

OB
Hotter than hell, responsive with a lot of growl
Olof B. 04.03.2015
I got these for my 5 string converted P-bass, mainly because of the 'rail type' pole pieces. With conventional P-bass pickups I always have had an issue with uneven sound level between the strings; B was loud, E was not, A was louder than E.
With the DP127 that problem is resolved, all strings have even level, On the bargain I get a fuller sound on the D and G than with the stock -78 pups.

Since they are humbuckers they are not as bright as single coils so you'd better go for 500 K potentiometers. The 127s are very dynamic and responsive to how hard you hit it. The sound is raw and they have a very high output and a remarkable sustain. I'ts almost like a bit of an overdrive character to them so if you're into good times rock'n roll or some undefined vintage sound you are spot on. If you are into sweet tone, Jaco style, look elsewhere.

The only downside (there's always some) is that I kind of miss some of the original P tone in the originals or Duncan QPs. As always, you gain at one end and lose on the other.

I am in NO WAY a DiMarzio guy, but these pickups surprised me. They can be used for everything and got way over my expectation, Mannaggia ehh.

Worth Consideration

There is a HUGE RF problem where I live, and single coils are simply unusable. It's not the same P sound, but they are certainly great.
