Real bronze from the Far East

Zultan's most affordable cymbal series is called Aja - pronounced "Asia" - and is made in China. Unlike the machine-made B8 cymbals offered in the same price range by their competitors, the Ajas are cast from high-quality B20 bronze and hand-hammered. In addition to the 10" splash, the Aja range offers other individual cymbals in various sizes and designs in addition to various preconfigured sets.

Zultan 10" Aja Splash

B20 - the standard yesterday, today, and tomorrow

In China, people have been familiar with the manual production of gongs and cymbals for centuries, so a lot of experience has gone into making the Aja series. 80 percent copper and 20 percent tin, B20 for short, is the name of the formula that has long since established itself as the magic formula for high-quality, melodious cymbals. As the cymbals are hand-hammered, each one is unique, which means that slight sound variations among several cymbals of the same type are normal. The sound of the 10" Aja Splash is lively and bright, making it ideal for short, sharp accents.

Zultan 10" Aja Splash, Detail

Good sound doesn't have to cost a fortune

High-quality cymbals are often unaffordable for beginner drummers, so they can now be happy that the Zultan Aja cymbals offer a lot of sound for not a lot of money. No matter if you are playing Rock, Alternative, Grunge, Pop, or Funk - the 10" Aja Splash can be used in each of these genres thanks to its distinct sound. However, with this model even advanced drummers might find exactly the right cymbal to close the remaining gap in their setup.

About Zultan

To provide traditional craftsmanship at a fair price has been the guiding principle of Zultan ever since it was founded in 2000. The firm’s practice of selling directly to the end customer makes it possible to offer very customer-friendly prices. Nevertheless, the production process for Zultan’s trademark cymbals, which are made mainly in Turkey, is of the highest quality, a fact which has ensured they have also been a fixture in the Thomann range since 2011. The nearly 250 Zultan products cover several cymbal series, catering for all sectors of the music market. Zultan also offers accessories such as bags and drumsticks. Thanks to the use of high-quality materials and manufacturing expertise, Zultan really does offer uncompromising quality at a reasonable price.

Save money in the right places

Anyone who is serious about drumming as a beginner drummer knows that a good cymbal sound is just as important as the great features and the cool look of the newly acquired drums. No matter whether you only buy the 10" splash or a complete Zultan Aja cymbal set at an unbeatable price - the investment is definitely worth it, because the cymbals sound so good that you will still have fun playing them years later. The Aja range is so diverse that other cymbals from the hi-hat, crash, ride, china, and splash categories can be purchased later to meet players' growing demands.

25 euros???
Vykintas 01.03.2020
The price for what you get is completely insane. B20 bronze. The sound is REALLY good, and I am quite picky on splashes. The appearance however is very "vanilla" - natural finish, no visible hammer marks, but you dont really care about the appearance of a such low priced splash cymbal. The splash is what i would call medium thin.
A side note - the splash came with a very visible lathing defect, which was on the bell of a cymbal. I could not feel the "dent" with my finger, so I decided not to return it, and the visible defect is fully covered by the cymbal felt. I hope this will not result in a crack in the future.
I gave the total a score of 5/5, because you cant really beat this price, and the sound is of a splash worth 100 euros.
Highly recommend.

Qualities -
Thin, good quality alloy, sounds great as a splash.

But to use it as just a splash would be such a shame. This is a great entry point to anyone who is interested in new sounds on the kit. I often use it on top of my 20" Caz ride, just stack it on top, it sounds awesome. Experiment and put it on top/underneath all your cymbals.

But the coup de grace is when you put it on your snare. Oh my. It sounds exactly like an electronic snare/clap sound when I lay it on my snare (13" Yamaha musashi) and hit the edge of the cymbal.

To summarise, just buy this thing, it's too cheap not to. Sounds fine as a splash, but serves much better when you get weird with it.

Cheap, thin and alright sounding
Anonymous 28.06.2016
This cymbal was cheap and sounds absolutely fine considering what I paid.
I wanted to experiment with a splash and this wasn't too much money to risk.
It wasn't very well finished however which I hope isn't the case for some of the more pricey Aja range, it would put me off trying out some of their larger pies (which I'd expect to be pretty budget as well) but nothing which cannot be sorted out with a little file and some sandpaper.
It is very thin and lightweight without any significant bell, it doesn't have a great deal of volume unless you blast it, but then that is the point of a splash.
I've had access to real junk budget brand cymbals before which cost a lot more than this and this cymbal is at least expressive and musical rather than just painful.
I recently got to play with a 10" zildjian zxt trashformer splash and to my ears it didn't sound like it was worth approximately 4 times the price of this Zultan.
I'd recommend this to anyone looking to experiment with a splash in their setup without breaking the bank or for a project of some type where a non-standard setup is being used or where a budget cymbal is sought, but one that doesn't sound absolutely awful.
Be aware of the quality control though and the fact that it is very thin and I doubt it'll last a lifetime.
I doubt thin splashes do though and it was 20 euro.

OE
Great splash!
Odd Erik 05.08.2021
I bought the 8" and 10" version after reading all the good reviews and listening to the sound clips. When I received it I got a little sceptical since the 8" felt a bit thick, but when I played it, it sounded amazing. Very quick and crystal clear sound. Better than the sound clip. Not as "gongy" even if was a bit thick. Both sounded perfect.
