I had had my beady eye on this for some time before taking the plunge. The service from Thomann was exemplary as always, and the product certainly does not disappoint. I use it in a rehearsal room/project studio, and i find it easy to use and intuitive. The quality of the preamps is good enough for my recording needs, and I find the Eq and effects toggling to be a breeze. Just select a channel, and off to work. I really only use reverbs from the desk, but IMHO the reverbs are really great. Indeed, I don?t touch software verbs now. Also the EQ section puts me back in that ?hands on?territory, resulting in a more by ear approach, compared to the distractions of curves etc on screen. If I could suggest a mod, it would be to be able to ?see?the SD card from the PC, in order to drag and drop audio. It is a little bit of a faff to move the SD card from desk to PC, especially as you have to change mode in order to import/ export.
The multiple headphone outputs are a great feature, especially as each can have its own dedicated mix.
I love that recordings always take place pre EQ and effects, so you can add as much reverb and EQ as needed at record, without writing these to disc.
I tend to get the recording done, transfer tracks to PC for editing, then re-import cleaned up tracks to the desk for mixdown, where I have immediate access to the Eqs and effects. The workflow is not seamless, but it is very effective, especially considering the low price tag.
Highly recommended for small project studios and bands rehearsing and recording in places where volume is limited.
