Hi!
I have an older Yamaha G-255sll that I love the sound of.
I used to have one that I fitted a Shadow piezo bridge bar in.
I've tried different piezo pickups (stick on) to get a sound without altering the bridge and that would fit in the case without damaging the top, under pressure.
I shortly had the Shadow SH2000 stick on piezo unit attached, but it is no match to this one!!
I finally got this, being a little sceptical because of earlier experiences with B-band products.
Installation was easy. I had to add more sticky tape to the bottom, to remove a rattling resonance. FYI the pickup is 1mm. thick so, you'll have to remove that from the existing bridge, to keep the same action.
Sound, here's the good part. It is linear and quiet, and you'll need to amplify it a lot. If you make a jack to XLR male conversion cable, you'll have enough volume to run a mic input on a mixer. However I run mine through a NU-X Stageman floor and a Helix floor. Both units do a great job of giving me the right sound (eq.) to make it sound right. To get the sparkle of the strings you'll need some heavy eq'ing. It is nice to be able to record a decent sound without micing up, also this pickups gets some of the body sound as well, not just the strings as piezos generally do. I wish there was more voulme available, but that probably would require a much larger preamp on the guitar... So all in all I am pleased with this pickup and look for many hours of using it ;-)
