I actually bought some Kali Audio IN-8 2nd Wave, for the replacement of my old Behringer B2031A Truth set which got tired after a good handful of years. Somehow the Kali sounded flat in a way, not in a frequency kind of flat, actually opposite, but like you would want to add a transient shaper on everything, but get the right punch of the sounds. Anyways, I returned them and got these instead, and I'm very satisfied. The sound is nice, good spectrum, it's clear and punchy. I used the high frequency control to get it down to -4db, as I felt the brightness was a too much, and this setting works perfectly. The only downside is that I can't boost the bass area a notch, just a bit, it's not lacking bass response that much, and kicks can be felt easily, but I like a bit more bass in my working sound, more fun to work with I guess.
All in all, very very very good monitors for the price, they can not disappoint you, with this price tag. I can't say if they sound better that my old B2031A ones, as one of them is broken as mentioned, but they sound pretty much the same I guess. The B2031As can get some what louder, and is heavier and have more mass, but the bass in the B1031A is a bit deeper, and is very much loud enough for studio work, even when you want to disturb your neighbours. A funny side note on the loudness, I compared the Kali against the Behringer, and I actually needed to max the volume of the Kali and lower to the minimum on the Behringer to get about the same loudness, and the Behringer was still louder, so I had to tweak the level inside the daw to make a decent compare.
