Indispensible to have in the toolbox, especially for gigs on unknown territory. Always expect the worse if you don't know what to expect.

The different brands of cymbal stands take the long or short sleeves.
But they can be modified, worn out or damaged, so don't take anything for granted and always pack your toolbox with every item you're ever going to need to properly rest your cymbals on a bald, stripped cymbal stand.

These kind of sleeves are a part of those necessities.
They're can also be convenient if you want to use stackers and need to modify the set up.
Take the short version also.

And don't forget to pack the toolkit with a mini-iron saw that will cut these things the best, as well as felts and a lot of other stuff up and around a set.

Cheap and the best I've tried

I love these! I tend to always lose these things at school or at gigs, so I ended up trying a lot of different brands of cymbal sleeves. These ended up to be my favorite because of their price and quality.

These are of good quality. Even when used intensively they show little damage. I could imagine them breaking after a couple of years of usage, but I don't think other brands would last longer.

I like the fact that these have a threaded inside so they can be screwed securely onto most 8 mm cymbal stands without rattling.

I highly recommend these cymbal sleeves.

After most of my cymbal sleeves were starting to wear (and one so much that I had to force the cymbal off it) I decided to replace them and the felts too. These do what they need to do, they hold the cymbal up and protect it from key holing. I can't say I have any major complaints with these other than that they're a bit taller than I would say was necessary. However in some cases you might need the high for using think felts, I mainly use thin felts except on the ride and china and so I had to cut them down. If I didn't do this then the amount of thread exposed on the stand wouldn't be enough to place on it.

Other than that small issue which is easily rectified these are great, they seem very durable and stable and I'd recommend them to anyone.
