I bought this Yamaha recorder because my previous Yamaha recorder was tuned for german fingering. Although the recorder is made out of plastic, the finish is just great. The tones are okay, although higher notes might sound a bit shrill.

Nice to own as a backup

For this price, I didn't expect each note to sound perfectly in tune. Altough it imitates the sound of a wooden recorder, those who know the difference will definitely hear an edge of plasticness. Just like most cheap recorders, I find it a bit harder to correctly seal the sound holes to prevent leaking air. That is not what you want to fight against when you start out, which is why I do not recommend this recorder to beginners. However, it is a nice recorder to use at places that could potentially damage your expensive wooden recorder, and if you don't want to worry about being carefull.

Good for beginer.

We got this recorder for our 3-year-old son and he is very happy that he can make lots of noise with it. Though we are hoping that he will soon learn to play something other than one (very high pitched) note.
It has a very nice tone and doesn't require much practice to get a tune out of it. A nice instrument for a budding musician.
