Headphone amp for up to 12 pairs of headphones

The Behringer Powerplay HA6000 is a powerful six-channel headphone amplifier for connecting up to 12 pairs of headphones at once. The volume of the six independent amplifier channels can be individually adjusted, and it does not matter whether the connected pairs of headphones have different impedance values. Each channel has two connection sockets for headphones, and both outputs can be used simultaneously so that a total of up to twelve pairs of headphones can be supplied with sound. The routing options are where it gets really exciting, however: In addition to the main signal, another signal can be mixed into each channel via the AUX input. The Behringer HA6000 also takes up just one rack unit, while the power supply is suitable for voltages between 100V and 240V.

Mixing playback and solo signals made simple

The Behringer Powerplay HA6000 can handle headphone monitoring in the recording studio or serve as the core of an in-ear setup for a complete live band. For level control, there is an LED meter for the main input and one LED meter per channel for the output level. Behringer specifies a minimum headphone impedance of eight ohms, so the HA6000 should be ready for any eventuality. An EQ section is provided on each channel, with which bass below 80Hz and treble above 12kHz can be boosted or cut by 12dB. With the AUX input, a "more me mix", i.e. a mix of playback and solo signals, can be created very quickly. With the balance control, the volume ratio of these two signals can then be adjusted by the musicians themselves. Since the input signal of the main input is looped through to the main output, several Behringer HA6000 units can be connected to form a multi-channel monitoring setup.

For studio, live, and DJ applications

The Behringer HA6000 will capably handle every application from band rehearsal room to professional broadcast studio, because the requirements of both are usually the same: To deliver a clean and sufficiently loud monitoring signal, regardless of what (and how many pairs of) headphones are connected. Each channel on the Behringer features two outputs - one on the front panel and one on the rear - which will be immensely helpful for users who want to hardwire the headphone amplifier into a studio or live rack. Some singers and many DJs prefer monitoring with one headphone side - for this, the HA6000 offers an individually switchable mono mode for each channel, so the user can choose whether they want to monitor the left, the right, or a summed mono signal.

About Behringer

The company, which was founded in Germany by Uli Behringer and now manufactures its products in China, has been known for affordable and great-value equipment since its very first product, the Studio Exciter F. An array of mixing consoles (such as the Eurodesk MX8000), signal processors, and later sound amplification and monitoring equipment, has made it possible for countless musicians to fit out their home studios, practice rooms, and mobile PAs within budget limits that were previously unthinkable. The acquisition of other companies, including Midas, Klark Teknik, and TC Electronic, meant that new product groups were added - and also resulted in the technical expertise of these companies being incorporated into product development.

Stereo mix for up to six band members

Supplying a complete band, a vocal ensemble, or a brass section with headphone signals usually requires extensive signal routing. The Behringer Powerplay HA6000 headphone amplifier simplifies this task enormously thanks to its practical AUX input - an advantage that it can fully exploit in both studio and live operation: In combination with a digital rack mixer like the Behringer X32 Rack (article no. 310536), a complete in-ear setup including a "more me" stereo mix for up to six band members can be created with just four rack units. During a recording session, keyboardists can connect closed-back studio headphones, such as the Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro, which have an impedance of 250 ohms, while singers can use the in-ear monitors that they are accustomed to using for live performances, e.g. the Sennheiser IE 100 Pro Clear (article no. 512717).
