1. So far, I've used the Rode M3 for all kinds of different applications, to name a few, I've made a lot of foley, sfx and field recording with it.
2. It comes with a 9V battery slot so phantom power isn't a drain in conjunction with my Zoom device.
3. To top it off it has a -10db &-20db pad built in before the hardware in the microphone which prevents overloading the microphone components when recording high SPL sounds such as gunshots or explosions!
It's slightly thicker than say, a SM57 but you can force it to fit a standard microphone mount, but I'd recommend buying a specific mount for this microphone.
