Fl studio is an intuitive and beginner-friendly DAW! This version has plenty of instruments and effects to satisfy a first-timer, probably more than they will use. The biggest reason to go with FL Studio as opposed to other DAWs is the "Lifetime Free Updates" deal. Frequency Splitter, Tuner and Flex were all added in updates, all of which were free with even the cheapest versions.
Instrument-wise this version has plenty of sounds to fulfil your needs. Flex is probably what a beginner would gravitate towards because of it's easy and customizable workflow as well as huge soundbank. For someone who wants to learn sound-design, there is Harmless. For someone, more experienced there is the more advanced Sytrus.
Mixing-wise this version has all the basic things you would need. Included are several Equalizers (the main one of which just got a sweet update), delays, reverbs, limiters, compressors and more.
A few things you'll be missing if you go with this version instead of the all-plugins one:
"Transient processor"
"Harmor"
"Morphine"
"Sakura"
"Sawer"
A few things cheaper versions miss out on:
"NewTone"
"Gross Beat"
"Hardcore"
"Pitcher"
"Harmless"
"Fruity video player 2"
Pros:
Plenty of different sounds/instruments.
Everything you need for basic mixing.
Easy-to-use piano-roll.
Every single update is free. (Most other DAWs will have an upgrade price)
ZGameEditor Visualizer ("visualization effect plugin with movie render capability")
Cons:
There's quite a gap between this version and the All-plugins version when it comes to included plugins.
Some of the plugins are old ones that you won't use since they have a more recent counterpart.
I found it confusing to register the key, at first. But once I followed the steps, it wasn't a challenge. This is true for my friends who also bought FL.
In summary the Signature Edition has more than a beginner needs, in terms of instruments and effects. I use Fl studio every day and I even upgraded to the all-plugins version. The fact that I will get every future update of FL studio for free keeps me interested.
