A great deal!
The two active humbuckers delivers exactly what one would expect, a heavy and fat bass sound perfect for metal, while the balance, bass and treble controls allows you to tweak the sound to suit other genres too.
The build quality seems to be great for the money spent. The finish of the bass is next to flawless. There's a couple of tiny bubbles in the paint but they're only visible with good eyes and an even better lighting. A couple of the pots feels a bit rough to turn though but that's nitpicking considering the price of this beauty. The tuners are smooth and precise. Some of the frets were a bit sharp but a few strokes with a fine grit sandpaper took care of it.
The neck was in a bad need of oil as all the other Harley Bentons I've bought. The same goes with the action and the truss rod adjustment. Every guitar/bass has had a way too high action but watching a couple of youtube clips makes anyone able to adjust it themselves. So it's really not an issue. So far I haven't had a Harley Benton that I haven't been able to adjust to perfect playability with very little effort.
Overall it's simply a nice bass. It does what it's supposed to do. The playabilty and sound is good enough for both beginners and more experienced musicians. It's not a 1000 euro bass. You'll find better for 400 euro too. But this 139 euro bass isn't far behind. It's worth every penny.
