I bought this mouthpiece for my son, who had just taken up clarinet. The mouthpiece that came with his Buffet Prodige produced a poor tone; the Vandoren BD4 transformed the sound, giving it more of a true clarinet quality. The Prodige is not an expensive instrument; it was definitely worth investing in a good quality mouthpiece. The only problem is that leaving it in the case with the clarinet, the clarinet keys started to tarnish. The shop I bought the clarinet from had experienced this before, and advised me to keep the mouthpiece in a pouch, which resolved the issue.
