A
solid unit perfect for the job
I was in need of some simple controller to switch between two pairs of active monitors in my studio setup and bought this 3 months ago. So far, it does the job perfectly.
Pros:
- Good sound quality, passive circuitry. The decrease in the stereo image at low levels is unnoticeable. No obvious coloration.
- No need to power it as long as you don't need flashy colourful leds and the phone amp.
- Solid build. The knobs are built to last as long as you don't use a hammer on them.
- Nice, sturdy design imo.
- Useful extra features: mono and mute switches, and an aux stereo input.
Cons:
- None that I know of.
As there aren't too many decent low cost monitor controllers out there and pretty much no reviews on this specific one, I was a bit uneasy on ordering the unit. I can safely say now I don't regret the purchase and would recommend it to anyone serious about his home studio setup.
