Second time lucky with this. The first one came out of the packaging during shipping and was damaged. Thomann was very professional and sent me a replacement immediately. Thanks guys!
For those who don’t know: Melody Maker tuning differs from standard Richter tuning in that the 3rd hole (Blow) is raised by a full tone and the 5th hole (Draw) is raised by a semi-tone. This allows for two full octaves to be played from second position without having to bend notes. This is ideal for non-blues type melodies.
Pros: A good quality correctly tuned (Checked on a tuning app) and decently airtight harmonica that plays well and sounds nice. It’s nice to have two full octaves at your disposal without having to do any bending.
Cons: This is an expensive harmonica and the little box it comes in is absolutely terrible when you consider the price of the instrument.
Melody maker tuning, whilst having many advantages, takes a bit of getting used to. With some notes the player might be familiar with as blow notes suddenly played as draw notes.
