Tough, durable, ergonomic and all but sound is not for my taste
My brick-and-mortar music store had only 0.60 an 1.0 Ultex bass picks so I ordered the 0.73 and the 0.88 to make a complete comparison. For a long time I used only the 0.60 because it seemed to pull more harmonics when I played unplugged, but that's a bad habit.
The more acute sound seems to be easier to hear unplugged but it's also a little rubbery, and when I adjust the string height I raise them to the point the string doesn't sound rubbery. So the pick shouldn't make it sound rubbery either, and it takes a harder pick to achieve that. The 0.73 isn't hard enough for my taste but I'm glad I bought it to make the experiment.
Now I'll play only the 1.0 and maybe the 1.14 that I will try next time I order stuff from Thomann. With the 0.60, 0.73, 0.88 and 1.0 at hand for immediate comparison I also noted the harder picks don't stay as long on the string because they don't flex, so no time is wasted. And they don't waste motion energy either, because when a softer pick bends, the energy used to bend it is not there to push the string anymore.
The impression that thicker picks give out less high harmonics is not a problem, they pull more bass, and the difference is easlily adjusted with the low/mid/high knobs on the amp.

Works for me
Plectrum has a significant impact on the articulation and final sound. You have to find your own one...

My Favorite Plec's
These are my favorite plec's as they have a really good grip. The size of the pick gives me a lot more control. My local music store sells these at 1 euro a pop so 4 euros for 6 is a great deal since most of my pic's disappear in to another dimension as soon as i drop them :P

Ultex vs Tortex...
I have been using Dunlop Tortex for years now ...
just gave a try to these Ultex and ... Woaw !
These are indeed a bit more expensive and not available in 72 pieces bags but it worthes giving it a try ...
A different feeling but straight attack

Good for large hands.
The triangle shape helps me take focus off wich direction the point is faceing and instead focus on the attack. No more ''teardrop'' picks for me, getting some tortex next.

Good all around pick
It is a good pick, if you like the triangle shape, that i prefer to use with a bass.
It gives a decent attack but not too bright, and the ultex is strong enough to cope with the big bass strings.

best pick for bass
They lack a bit of grip, and that's the only weakness in my opinion (the Tortex are my gold-standard for grip, and one could immediately feel the difference). If you play unplugged, they are extremely noisy, but once amplified, that noise is gone, all that remains is a great attack and an excellent sound. They last so long, that I still have one bought before 2010 (it's 2024): it is consumed, no longer transparent and the writing is all gone, but one could still play with it... 0.73 mm is a very good combination for string resonance and mechanical resistance.
