I use it in combination with the Modal Electronics Cobalt 5s. While the Cobalt is my go-to for classic analog and sci-fi sounds (although the Microfreak can handle some of these quite nicely), the Microfreak is my choice for strange and experimental sounds. The number of oscillator engines it packs is impressive. Even more impressive, given its compact size and really light weight, is the ease of control with almost no menu diving. Arturia, being a great company, keeps updating this synth, occasionally introducing more oscillator engines, which makes it very future-proof.
The graphics on the Stellar edition are absolutely gorgeous. As a huge fan of sci-fi and space psybient music, it's incredibly inspiring and satisfying to create that kind of music while admiring the amazing graphics.
Overall, it is a great addition to any studio. Even if you don't know anything about synths, the Microfreak offers a great learning experience (there's also an excellent, detailed manual by Arturia, showcasing their passion for their products). 10/10 for me.
