Not a Portastudio (duh)
I bought it mainly to use as a recorder, something like Tascam’s DP series. I knew it wasn’t as feature packed as DP24/32 are but I thought the recording functions it has will be enough to be at least usable for getting down the ideas. It quickly turned out that recording functions are just to record a gig or band practice, there is no way to trim or edit tracks, you can’t route inputs to other tracks (I guess I should expect that but was still disappointed that I have to switch cables to record second guitar to different track)
It’s a beautiful machine, the build quality is amazing, the „wooden” panels are actually plastic but look great, the display although small is easy to read. The unit sounds great, onboard compression is very handy and works well, MIDI is a welcome addition (after multiple years of no MTR device with MIDI this is a wonder), tap metronome is very useful and to my surprise the Bluetooth works great. Connection is very stable, has long range and quickly connects to known device.
Overall, lovely machine if you’re after compact Mixer/audio interface but it’s definitely not a successor to the Portastudio line
