I'm a guitarist and recently discovered how much fun it is to play bass. I can create great tracks as together with a BeatBuddy (drums) I got the rhythm and low end covered. My idea was to plug my (passive) bass guitar directly into my mixer (Tascam Model 12). The Dapper allows me to do that. I found that engaging the 'Bass amp' section introduces some noise, but in the mix this is hardly noticable. I also get a great sound without using the Bass amp part by just using the compressor/gain knob. On my mixer, I EQ the bass to what I like and so I don't use the bass amp part that much (so far). The compressor/gain knob also adds a nice bit of boost for my passive bass. It's great to also have this knob function as a tuner. I had a cheap fuzz (Biyang fuzz star) lying around and I put that in the effects loop of the Bass amp part. I found that the Bass Amp and fuzz pedal gives me another/agressive tone which is fun to fool around with for a few riffs. I also messed around a bit with the octaver and chorus on the Dapper and I find that these sound well, but at the moment, I actually prefer my bass to be 'clean'. Besides, I have guitars and a pedalboard many effects to fill in the space;-) All in all, for me the Dapper Bass a great device.
