I was pleasantly surprised at how light the stand is as it is a substantial looking piece of kit. It's very easy to carry around and easy to erect. It seems to be very well made. The extension pieces move up an down smoothly and I really like the pegs that secure them.
I bought the stand to mount 4 horn PA speakers and chose it because of its height (3m) and the fact that it is rated at 30Kg. My speakers only weigh 13.3Kg in total so I am well short of the rated capacity of the stand. At chest height the stand is very sturdy, but when I raise the T-Bar to its maximum height, the stand sways quite alarmingly. I'm not an engineer so I'm not going to challenge the load calculations, but I'm going to take extra precautions before using it with a crowd, as it appears to be top heavy. It's probably unrealistic to expect a 3m high pole to be completely rigid, but it makes me nervous nevertheless.
