I always thought a tuner pedal an unnecessary item. I've been using clip on tuners for as long as I can remember. A downside of clip on tuners is that they are easily lost. Although they are reasonably cheap, buying a new one every month or so is not very practical. Ever since I have been gigging more often, I've been using more pedals and have made myself a little pedal board to bring to shows. And on this pedal board I wanted a tuner pedal, mainly to keep everything in one place.
I had been looking at the TC electronic Polytune mini, and almost decided to buy it, when I saw the Harley Benton CPT-20. At less than a quarter of the price, this looked like a very economical alternative.
And I must say, it has not disappointed me so far. Like the Polytune, it only works with a 9v adapter. The build is super simple, with a brushed metal finish. The knob and power input feel solid enough, the lettering is grey, which makes it a bit difficult to read. But the screen is big and bright enough.
I've played one gig with it so far, and it was really easy to read of and make quick tuning adjustments. Although I use a dedicated tuner out on my pre-amp, the true bypass is a nice touch, especially at this price point. All in all, I definitely recommend this tuner pedal.
