Perfect Balance, Perfect Pedal
This is the first time I have written an evaluation for a product in the 12 years I have been a Thomann customer. After having used dozens of different pedals in the last 40 years I can say I have bought my last pedal.
I was intrigued by the fact the Perfect Balance was strap-drive. I started with strap-drive, then went to direct-drive (Speed King), and then a host of other chain and direct-drive pedals. I own several Sonor pedals including a GSP-3.
Out of the box, it was apparent the quality was good; smooth drive, quality machining. But I noticed that the spring column was angled forward a few degrees. Strange. I clamped it on and tried it just as it came out of the box; great feel! I added spring tension and it felt amazing. Effortless doubles, dynamic control... I was hooked.
And then I discovered why the column was canted forward. It was to facilitate the beater striking the head WITHOUT GOING BEYOND VERTICAL! Brilliant; No need for a special beater. No need to raise the front of the kick drum. It hits in perfect vertical. Between this brilliant piece of engineering and the strap drive, it is the smoothest pedal I have ever played.
