The best thing about this microphone is that it has a slightly better transient response than most cheap dynamic drum mics, though it has a very wide pickup pattern, so it picks up much more of the other drums than any cardioid mic I compared it to, a very bright tonality with little proximity effect, and despite what the specs say about the max SPL it can handle I couldn't use it on my floor tom or snare because they were too loud for it.
The mounting system is questionable in that the spring is strong but the groves in the rubber that actually touches the drum hoops are very thin and shallow, so it clamps tightly but even a slight nudge from the side is enough to move it, and as a result it doesn't feel very secure at all; this is especially an issue with die cast hoops, because they are thicker and the grooves are small, but not at all an issue with wooden bass drum hoops.
