Not premium quality but still playable.
I have to admit this is the first fretless bass i own, but I've tried many of them and none of them sounded as bad as this Harley Benton. There are a few annoying things that I don't like and of corse some cool features. Let's start with the cool features:
- It's very very cheap and that allows many people to play this instrument
- Active electronics are working nicely, at this price range you probably won't find basses with active electronics
- Downtuning is possible and the strings don't make that buzz which I expected, the action is quite high but you can easily set it as you like
- Balanced weight and comfortable body
And now I'll say what I don't like
- The notes on the thinner strings have a REALLY bad sustain and I generally noticed a bad sustain (this might be just for my bass)
- It doesn't stay in tune for long
- Equalization is BAD since there's always too much bass and less mids/treble of course you may work on the amp/pedal eq but still the eq of the bass on his own is NOT balanced.
- Too much space between the string and the pickup (personal preference not satisfied)
- The neck gets scratched pretty easily by the preinstalled roundwound string, I really recommend to use flatwounds so as not to ruin the whole fretboard but that affects the tone adding more bass and again there's the equalization problem
To sum up everything, the experience is not satisfying but we have to consider that the product is very affordable.

O
6 string fretless entry level
Consigliato!!!
