Not a set of 4 extra long scale strings
My 36" neck Celinder Jazz Bass Update with Fender style head and 4-1 tuning gear needs extra long scale strings, so I bought this. And being a 5 string bass with 4-1 tuning machine design, the longest string needed is the D-string. On my bass, the winding on the D-string stops short before making enough rounds on the tuning pin to get a solid grip, thus making it almost impossible to have a stable tuning. Now, on the Elixir outer casing the label says 4 extra long scale strings. The case inner sleeves though says long scale on the A, D and G strings, but extra long scale on E string.
Thomann says this is normal, and Elixir says this is how all their extra long scale sets are. This makes no sense to me?
E string would most often require the shortest length on most bassguitars, right?
To complete the confusion, Elixir use the term "useable length" about strings which is in fact the part with thickest surrounding winding from the bridge to just after the saddle. In a chart showing all extra long scale sets, the longest useable string is the G string (labelled long scale) and not the E string (labelled extra long scale).
This makes sense for a 4 string Jazz Bass where longest needed string is actually the G string. Then why the label long scale?
And most importantly to me: which brand can actually provide me with a D string with long enough winding?

Top quality
I am playing bass guitar for about 17 years now and I have tried almost every brand of bass strings but Elixir is the only one I prefer the most.
Smooth for the fingers, great clear sound that lasts 2-3 times more than any other brand and they stay clean because of the nanoweb.
I am using the XL scale because I have 2 string through basses and an Ibanez BTB675, 5 string 35" scale, so for this I have to buy separately a fifth XL string, which is the Elixir .130XL TW Bass Single String.
Despite the expensive price, I prefer these than changing strings every 2 months.

Awesome, as allways
Use this strings on main bass for rehearsals and performances, and it's great! Stays bright for a long time, easy to clean, feels smooth, great tone and saves money.

Great set for extra-long-scale basses
Elixir strings are perfect. I used them on my fretless and they last a good long time.

Elixir, but bigger.
Used the Extra Long variant for a fanned fret ESP bass (E=~36") and they fit well.
Elixir are probably my favorite bass strings, both for their tone as well as for their feel. They don't have the harsh top end of most of the other uncoated brands I tried straight out of the packet and their longevity is amazing.

No surprises here..
As an avid user of Nanoweb Medium Long Scale strings there was no surprises here when the extra long set performed just as well on my new bass.
Same excellent quality, slightly longer string.

Best coated strings on market
Cool tone, long playlife, thicker core - good tension. During gigs no out of tune, even with hard banding. PLEASE make the 130 XL string 1 inch longer to fit on Dingwall.... Please, please please!
