An useful microphone for many situations
Useful microphone for every musician. This is good for recording electric guitars. Place it near your amp speaker and you get good sound just By doing that. If you like you can also add condenser microphones to capture the room sound.
Other Instruments I have recorded with this microphone include percussions (congas, djembe and bongos. It is also good for snare drum.
In addition to studio uses its a reliable live microphone you can basicaly use for any instrument. It does its job very well with guitar cabinets and drums. The SM 57 is well built and there is no fear it could break down easily.
This microphone even works as a vocal microphone for some voices in live or studio use. Like SM 58 this is a good purchase for any musician. IF necessary, The SM 57 and 58 can be used with nearly everything in a live gig or studio session.

Perfect for loud sources
This works well when you are micing a snare drum, or a guitar amplifier. Blocks every unwanted sound. The sound quality is clear, natural and pleasing. Doesn't work so well with acoustic guitar recordings, or with other more quiet sources.

An All-rounded Robust Beast!
I have owned two of these for the last 6 years and have only just got around to buying myself another one. These microphones are probably one of the best value for money pieces of kit you could buy. I have used them at every live event and pretty much every single studio session i have been involved with. You really wouldn't be doing wrong with at least 5 of these. Again I will be back for more, thats for sure. Thomann, you guys are the best. THANKS!

A must for every studio
The SM 57 is renowned as a guitar amp mic and it really performs up to its name.
Very durable construction and one can be sure that they can enjoy the performance of this mic for a very long time.
We also used several times for micing vocals and I can say we were impressed by the quality of the end result. Vocal wise, it is more useful for males. A note of caution ... If using it for vocals, use it in combination with a good pop filter.

Standard
The Shure Sm57 is an industry standard microphone. For such a low price it produces excellent sound quality recordings along with a versatile and durable functionality element. I have personally used this microphone on electric guitar, electric bass and snare drum as is can withstand the high sound pressure levels associated with such instruments. Not only is it an ideal microphone for every budding music producer and pro alike, it is exceptional for live stage use due to it's previously mentioned durable nature and construction. In a live environment this mic can be used for guitar amps as well as vocals as it's cardiod polar pattern helps to prevent any major feedback.

Review Shure SM57 LC
This microphone is a standard classic gig mic these days - like all shure products its very well made would be near impossible to break it - its nice that it comes with the clip holder as well as a carry case which also both came in handy. I use this mic to mic up a small fender blues junior and straight to the p.a. - Of course depending on where at the speaker you point it will depend on the sound you get but this SM57 does exactly what I expected it to do - recommend this to anyone.

Industry standard.
What more can you save, SM58 and 57, the industry standard.
Just don't waste money buying cheaper miss, if you have the cash get something better but never go lower. These will give you years of quality service.
They sound great on snare, toms, bodhrans, cajons, electric guitar cabinets. Even sax and most other instruments, give it a try. Some vocalists even seem to sound better with a 57 rather than a 58.
Just make sure you buy from a reputable dealer, never on Ebay, there are just too many fakes on the market. First thing to do when you get yours is to weigh it, if it is less that 270 gms its a fake.
