Durable and smooth but not as nice as a gotoh because the parts are cast
The parts are cast, not machined. This makes it a bit rough. However the knife edges are made of hardened steel inserts. In my opinion this is the best way to do it. On top of that it has a nice chunky brass sustain block. Good trem overall for a good price. Only 4 stars on quality because of the casting.

Great floating bridge system
Swapped out a stock floating bridge for this Schaller system, and I love it. The motion of the tremolo is smooth and accurate, the tuning stability is great and the sustain is powerful. I would highly recommend this bridge..... it's why I have three of them!

Good but not great!
The standard Schaller locking tremolo is a good unit - but lacks a bit compared to the Lockmeister or Original FR units, particularly in the saddle and baseplate quality. That said, it's a great upgrade to cheaper floyd copies or a replacement for an old worn out unit - this one went on a Washburn N4 model to restore it to a nice working condition!
