Having used the traditional filament par cans in the past with the associated issues of power consumption, LED is now at an affordable point of replacement.
I have the Starville 36 x 3 RGB Par 64 units and they work very well.
The upgrade to these 18 x 8 RGBW is a real improvement.
The White is a good white if that makes sense and when mixed with the additional RGB Leds the unit offers up the ability to mix some amazing colours.
I use my lighting mainly for live music events, bands, small festivals etc.
In the 8 Chl DMX mode you have access to a strobe function along with some pre programmed colour mixes within the unit which are very handy when trying to set up a quick mix of colours at short notice.
These will never be a replacement for the traditional 1000W par can with gel filter, however, the ability to run 20 of these form one 13A socket is a no brainer for me.
The only thing that is missing from the unit is the ability to link the power cables to each other as some other LED units do, however this is only me being picky.
If your thinking of moving from the old traditional Par units, these Starville units are a great alternative.
I've had mine for a couple of years now and they are still going well.
Will I be buying more of these? Definitely
