I am a mobile DJ who does a lot of weddings and similar events.
I've been looking at these speakers for a long time and wondering if I need them. I was constantly reading user opinions and watching videos. Considering that I do weddings, I needed quality 2+2 speakers that would not be too heavy, have a nice look and sound great. The condition was also that there were neodymium magnets in the upper speakers, which means a special purity of sound for vocals and high tones.
EVOX 12 has always been my wish, but I kept giving up on buying it.
I was afraid that the 15" would not be strong enough to satisfy some larger wedding halls and spaces where I often work.
I was afraid that the declared 130 db would not be loud enough.
I have been using classic speakers in combination 18"+12" and 15"+10" for a long time and I am very satisfied. But I wanted to try something lighter and more modern and nice looking.
I finally decided to buy the EVOX 12 and I sold the old 15" + 10" system, so I covered part of the costs.
After 10 weddings I've done, I can't hide my delight and happiness with my choice :)
They are definitely worth buying, worth every € they cost.
They fit very nicely into the very appearance of the DJ Booth, compared to classic speakers and tripod stands.
The sound that comes out of them is very nice and defined, the neodymium magnets in the top speakers make that magic together with the bass bottom speaker that the sound is perfect for events I would say up to 200 people.
The biggest wedding I did recently was in a bigger wedding tent (15x25m), there were 200 guests, and the dance floor (7x12m) was for 100 guests. All the ceiling and walls of the tent were covered with decorative canopy curtains, so there was no sound reflection.
The sound was perfect, the tent was well covered by the sound, especially focus is on the dance floor, because that's how I set up the speakers.
There was enough bass, mids and highs to make the quality top notch on the whole dance floor with all the people. There is no sound distortion even at high volume levels, the sound is very nicely defined all the time.
On a couple of songs, the red light used to light up a bit, but that's because the boost was on. Without the boost option, you can work without going into the red, and there is still enough bass for the entire dance floor.
EVOX12 can cover smaller spaces and a smaller number of people without any problems, with much less effort.
I can say that I currently do 90% of my weddings with this PA system.
I use stronger classic speakers 18"+10" only in those situations when the spaces are much larger and the number of people exceeds 200.
The speakers themselves are quite simple, like all regular class RCF speakers. There are not many options, everything is very simple, but everything works great and super reliably.
I often get compliments for the sound, and some of the guests often ask about the EVOX 12, because they are also musicians.
The original protective covers are great, if you buy speakers, be sure to buy them together. Quality and well made, everything fits perfectly.
They are a bit more expensive, but still worth every €.
I look forward to every next wedding with EVOX 12, I'm happy!
I have no complaints about the EVOX 12, at least for now, after 10 weddings I've done with them. We'll see in a while, when I discover something new, I'll write an update.
