Good product with some issues
I am happy I purchased the samplepad 4. I have always wanted to be able to play a drum pad without having to plug it into a computer. However, there is a very loud buzz when plugged into a speaker. This issue can be resolved by using the phones jacks as the output but still not ideal and would have hoped for better quality.

Nice features, low price
Really cheap and handy gear. It has SD card, it is small ect.
I use it us an additional element to my live hip-hop gigs. For such a purpose it is OK, but for real drummer it might be not that good. Biggest problem is quality of this thing. Alesis support forum is full of complains that samplepad has a lot of errors to play two pads simultaneously. This gear has ability to play to pads together, but for me it plays only one pad when I play two once in a 10 times. It is not very reliable.
But is has best features for the price.

Almost unplayable.
Although it is not user-friendly when editing sounds. I don't really mind how hard it is as long as it does it's job during performance. It takes so long to load the samples from the SD card. When you change patches the contains SD card samples, you'll have to wait every time. But the biggest thing is that NOISE. It's virtually impossible to use this thing live because of the noise. There are some workarounds, you use the Headphone out, but once you turnoff the device, there's an even louder noise, "while it is off". I just don't get it for a device release in 2020, bad interface, slow, and noise issues. I can't believe a product like this from a reputable company exists.

Overall a good entry level drum pad, but the rubber pads could be better. If you hit very hard one pad others can be triggered as well that you didn't want to hit.
I mainly used it MIDI only with a laptop.

Great change for the band
Our drummer had the older version of the Sample Pad, which is quite alright.
In this unit, however, playability is much improved as well as sound quality (better SNR).
The shape is useful, its small enough to put it in a little case with the other equipment, and the two back pads are nice small and a little taller as they are.
I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for an affordable drum pad you can rely on.
