Seymour Duncan J-bass SJB's
Did a lot of research into 'vintage' sounding pickups and these appeared to be rated very highly worldwide. More the 'old' 60's sound than any modern steroid injections.
Looked for pricing too and with US customs etc. leveling the score to the UK, I found Thomann to be the best price. Dealt with them before so I know they're efficient.
Fralins and Antiquity pickups may be better but not in the same price bracket.
Fender originals and 64's? I haven't been a great fan of Fender products since 1965.
My vintage pickups on a Japanese Fender are very good but not quite the same growl as these.
Everyone has an opinion of course but for middle range vintage jazz pickups I found these to be the best value.

A very good pickup
I bought this for a PB kit that eventually became a decent PJ bass.
I had to rout the cutout for it, so can't comment on whether it is a straight drop in replacement for a Jazz.
Out of the box, it comes across as being well-made and works as it should.
At the time, I had Elite strings on the bass and was rather disappointed with the sound of the new pickup. Then I went back to my favourite Rotosound 66's [see review] and everything changed. The pickup came alive: the harmonics were full and rich and the growl was good and strong.
I would definitely recommend this pickup to anyone who wanted to upgrade a lesser bass .. but you might want to try other strings to get the best out of it.
