reduces volume but keeps original sound
This pad feels very natural, the mesh is very thick and resistant.
The mesh is not touching the actual head of the drum, but somehow the drum will make the same sound, but with less volume.
The volume is not like whispering, but it is manageable also in an apartment. Plus, the dynamics are good.
This is one of the best solutions for practicting.
Overall, it is a little bit costly, but does what it promises.

The Right Solution at Last
I've used hard pads, mesh heads and an electronic kit for practice. None have quite worked for me These pads are ideal. A set of these, coupled with the Thomann/Millenium "Still" quiet cymbals (more affordable than the Zildjian range) the volume of the kit is reduced by 80% with very good feel. The pads are easy to remove when the kt is needed for gigs. Highly recommended.
